A couple candids from Cozumel (Island of Peace) / Panasonic LF1

If you take a cruise to the Caribbean, you likely will stop at Cozumel. The ships can dock here. Many other ports require a tender to go ashore. Not so here. There are tourist shops at the dock. If you walk outside the tourist area there is a lot to see. To go very far or to see a wide variety you will need a vehicle or a tour. I opted to walk to kill time the few times we've stopped here. We've also sailed on the America's Cup 5 meter racing yachts here, which was terrific. Anyway. These shots are from December last. I walked south from the port terminal a little over 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) toward Chankanaab, to look for a swimable beach. I found water access but little beach. The island seems to have a rocky shoal on it's coast in this area.

These folks walked behind me from town all the way to the water access.

Cozumel 12 meter sailing excursion / Stars & Stripes / Panasonic LX5 / Topaz 5

Amazing it can sail at all with such a bent mast, don't you think?
In the background is our competition, Canada's "True North."
Our skipper learned to sail in Argentina and was a very good sailor.
As per original script, Stars & Stripes won, but not by much.

2nd video from 12 meter race in Cozumel

Cozumel 12 meter sailing excursion / America's Cup / Stars and Stripes / True North / DMC-LX5 / .MTS

Cozumel offers several on shore or on water excursions. One of these involves former America's Cup 12 meter sailing ships. Here's a video clip of a daily race between the Stars and Stripes (US) and True North (Canada). The video was taken aboard Stars and Stripes and was taken in MTS format with a Lumix DMC-LX5. Uploading means it will be converted to a much smaller non-hd format for storage purposes by Youtube for display here. Immediately below is a link to the excursion, provided by Carnival. The next link is to Youtube for the video. I will post two other videos of the same excursion later today, or as time allows.
